The subject of Electrical Technology introduces students to the knowledge of electrical installations paying particular attention to machines. It is a fundamental subject to know the characteristics and applications of the equipment and electrical facilities present in any industrial system.

The consolidation of knowledge of electricity, acquired during the second year, in practical applications of the design of facilities is the primary objective of the course. The student will achieve the fundamental knowledge for the design of this type of installation, mainly the low voltage according to the Low Voltage Electrotechnical Regulation, analyzing the characteristics and modes of operation of the elements that are part of them (motors, transformers, protection elements, earthing systems, etc.)

Learning Results

  • Design and analysis of single-phase and three-phase electric circuits, direct current and current-alternating, with a guarantee of operation and safety.

Methodology

The knowledge of the subject is acquired through the reasoned study of all the academic units of the manual, as well as the complementary educational material that is made available to students in the Virtual Classroom.

Also, students must complete the continuous assessment and learning activities planned in the Teaching Guide that is published in the Virtual Classroom.

Given the integrating nature of the program of the subject, it is recommended to properly assimilate all the concepts before moving on to the next unit. This is so because each new concept is highly related to the ideas seen in previous groups. Similarly, the subject is very oriented to the realization of practical exercises, cases, and assumptions, so it is beneficial to carry out the self-test exercises of each unit.
